NetFlixing: Constantine
I've seen a shitload of movies on NetFlix and whatnot since I wrote my last post, but I didn't even care enough to write about them. I watched Constantine last week in HD-DVD, and I actually really liked it.
I'm not typically a fan of Keanu Reeves' work - I think he only worked in The Matrix because Neo was supposed to be sort of a stoneresque "uh.... what?" sort of guy. I didn't really like him in this movie either, but I seem to be getting used to him playing the same character in all of his movies.
Anyway, the story wasn't that great... come to think of it, I don't have a whole lot to say about this movie that's inherently positive. Even the dude who played the devil was... well, that dude was straight fucked up. That's all I'm saying.
What I actually liked about this movie was Hell.
Hell was simply a shattered reflection of the real world; a ruined world awash with flame and windblown with a callous desert heat, like the breath of an oven. I don't know if it was because of the HD, or because it's really what I think Hell would have to look like. What could be a worse punishment than living the rest of eternity in a twisted and battered version of the place you just left?
Anyway, I don't even remember what my rating system was here, so let's just say that I give it a "watch this movie if you've got nothing more pressing to do".
