Getting my Geek on
I bought a new computer earlier today. I'm actually really very happy with it.
Of course, the first thing I did to it after taking it out of the box was to rip the fucker open and upgrade it.
The system only came with 2GB of RAM, so I upgraded it to 4.
The graphics card was probably sufficient for my needs - I'm sure it did Glass - but it didn't do dual mon, so I bought a new graphics card.
And because of the graphics card, I had to buy a new power supply... though I'm not sure why, since it doesn't have a power adapter onboard.
At any rate, the first few hours that I owned the machine, it wasn't even in a state where it could power-on because I had ripped everything out of it.
Even more beautifully, the processor supports VT, so I'll be able to run Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 on it, with Virtualization Extensions enabled.
So, I totally destroyed the default operating system, and installed a pre-RC1 copy of Windows Vista. Unfortunately, the burnlab gave me a server CD instead of a client CD for x64, so I had to install a 32-bit OS. I'll get a new disc tomorrow and make sure that it works - I'm really intent on getting a 64-bit OS running on this box.
Yeah... I loves me some geekness.
