Fuzzy's Fight
So last night was Fight Club night for Fuzzy. I went along to see what was what, and watch someone get the crap beat out of them. I arrived about 45 minutes (maybe 30) before Fuzzy and his girlfriend arrived...

Words cannot describe the terror I felt.

There were some big friggin' people there. Sitting there by myself - with my blue hair - I felt like I stood out just a little too much. I called Mr. Nathan to see if he wanted to watch the fight with me (read: protect me). He didn't.

So finally Fuzzy arrived and began preparing for his fight. Now, Fuzzy and I make fun of each other a lot, and we typically spend a great deal of time talking about how much we hate one another - and we do. I told him on more than one occasion that I was fully planning on supporting his opponent, yelling out terribly distracting things to him, and strategically placing a camera flash when it would be tactically damaging to Fuzzy's fight. Truth be told, I would never do any of that. Fuzzy is one of my best friends, and despite the things I had told him, I wanted to see him win. And I think he knew that.

So Fuzzy's name was called, and he fought. I helped him put his gloves and protective head gear on (which I think I messed up - not on purpose), and the fight began.

Fuzzy fought well - Klingons would be proud.

Fuzzy, I feel, is a good fighter. Of course, my definition of a good fighter is 'someone who is better at fighting than me', and most puppies fit that description; but yeah, Fuzzy is a *really* good fighter, but unfortunately, he lost the fight.

He was the only fighter all night to have bled in the ring, which I don't feel is a bad thing. To me, it means that he was in there deeper than any of the other fighters, and his opponent was fierce. Other fighters would turn and run when their fight got tough (and let's be honest here - that's not a criticism. If some of these big bastards were trying to beat the hell out of me, I'd run, too), but Fuzzy didn't. He stood in there, he took the hits, and he gave them back.

So Fuzzy - good on ya, dude. I'm proud of you. You said - with a sigh - last night that you were 0 for 2. Don't be disappointed in that. That's 2 more fights than I would put myself in, and you fought hard. No matter how the judges called it, I think you did great.

And also, I hate you and you smell.

Thanks for the entry, Mike.

But I still don't like you.
